The CMP fleet was still based on the loadout of the Republic's standard starfighter force, having not been fitted with the new light fighter armament. The Republic decided to take direct action to stop Torrent's plans by sending covert forces to destroy the ships he used to transport his fighters around the galaxy in pursuit of the Republic.
